Cindy is our HBOT Certified Therapist and Technician. Mild HBOT (mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy) is a form of hyperbaric oxygen therapy that uses lower pressures than traditional HBOT, typically between 1.3 and 1.5 atmospheres absolute (ATA). It involves breathing pure oxygen while inside a chamber with slightly elevated atmospheric pressure. mHBOT is considered a safer and more accessible option compared to traditional HBOT, which uses higher pressures.
WHAT IS IT?
KEY ASPECTS
- Lower pressure:
Unlike traditional HBOT, which can use pressures up to 3 ATA, mild HBOT uses pressures of 1.3 to 1.5 ATA. - Pure oxygen inhalation:
Patients breathe pure oxygen while inside the chamber. - Soft-sided chambers:
mHBOT is often delivered in soft-sided chambers that are more portable and less intimidating than hard-walled chambers. - Potential benefits:
mHBOT is believed to increase oxygen concentration in the body's tissues, potentially promoting healing, reducing inflammation, and enhancing athletic performance. - Safety:
mHBOT is generally considered very safe with no known safety risks like fire or toxicity.
Potential uses and benefits of mHBOT:
- Athletic performance and recovery:
mHBOT is used by athletes to improve recovery from injuries and exercise-induced fatigue. - Anti-aging:
Some practitioners believe mHBOT can help with anti-aging effects on the cardiovascular system, brain, joints, and skin. - Brain care:
mHBOT may improve cognitive function, reduce inflammation associated with neurological conditions, and help with conditions like TBI and autoimmune disorders. - Other potential benefits:
mHBOT may also be used for wound healing, improving blood glucose levels in diabetes, and enhancing overall well-being.
